So I started reading last night, and all I've really noticed is that there are a LOT of little stories. She discusses the stories of other people she knew as well as her family. And it's definitely going along witht he characteristics. Obviously the "I was born..." and then she also dicusses parentage issues/white fathers with OTHER people she knows, but I don't think she had a white father? The masters are definitely cruel and she talks about the other side of that with how on the day when they sell the slaves, the nice people will have a huge group of slaves crowding around them begging to be hired. She learned to read and write from her grandmother, right? Because her grandmother's mistress was super nice and taught her?
I completely agree with how she tells stories about other people. However, later in the narrative, she begins to focus on herself and her concern for her kids. When taking note of similar characteristics, she has the "written by" and stories of cruel masters, but she talked about how she did not feel as if she could make a portrait. I think she learned to read from her grandmother's mistress, not from her grandmother.
